10 Free Events in August

Summer is full of fun, but it doesn’t have to be expensive!  One reason that I loved following Macaroni Kid when I first became a mom was that I was searching for free and inexpensive events. To end the summer, here’s our list of some of the free events in the area for August.  Please be sure to click on the event and read all the information.  Have fun!

August 3: CAST Fishing Event
This is a kid’s fishing day tournament with the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.  Equipment provided and it’s free!

August 4:  Veggie Family Fun Run
Have some good, healthy, family fun!  The run held on the scenic trails of the beautiful Treasured Haven Farm!  Toddlers can run in the Veggie Sprout Fun Run and older kids will have fun in the Veggie Mile fun run.  Best of all it’s Free! (Registration fees for adult runs)

August 4:  Home Depot Kids Workshop
Kids (with the help of their adult) will get FREE supplies and be shown how to make Bookworm Bookends.  

August 4, 11, 18 & 25: Drop-In Discovery Stations
Each week is a new theme.  Nature Center hosts will be on hand with animals, activities, artifacts and exploration.  Stations are open from 10am-noon.  Drop in for FREE whenever you like.

August 6, 13, 20 & 27:  Meet the Gardner
Participate in garden activities with a Tamarack Gardner.  This is a Free activity!

August 7, 14, 21 & 28:  Arts in the Park
Live music, food trucks, farmer’s market and vendors right on the lake!  Free admission!

August 7: National Night Out
City of Wyoming Police and Fire Department present a FREE night of family fun!

August 9: Summer Story Time – Marine Library
Storytime is always free!  This one is an outdoor storytime at the Marine Gazebo.  Learn about and meet miniature horses!

August 18-19: Sharp Dressed Kids Consignment Sale
This consignment sale, unlike others, is FREE to shop!

August 25:  Weekend Gardner
It’s Meet the Gardner on the weekend.  Learn from and work with the Tamarack garden staff.
